Its suppose to be Spring but from today’s chill I swear its the 12th December. What is keeping me going err the buzz about The Great British Sewing Bee. Adverts are hitting our BBC2 screens showcasing the programme as the new GB Bake-Off. But instead of sunken soufflés and burnt beef and ale pies we are treated to dilemmas of bobbins and tailoring triumphs.
The Great British Sewing Bee will feature eight amateur sewing enthusiasts, eager to show off their needle skills. Like its sister rival the GB Bake-Off, the finale is to crown an amateur the champion.
So is this the Beebs attempt to replicate Kirsty’s Homemade Home or Sky’s Project Runway? Surely you can never have enough sewing shows?
The stitch brigade is coming and I wait in anticipation to see if this will get Britain appreciating and sharing our love of the stitch.
The Great British Sewing Bee starts on Tuesday 2 April, 8pm, BBC2.
